How to Make a Big Wooden Jewelry Box

Hello all, have a look at the procedure to make a wooden jewelry box
1. Get one 12*12*8 inches box prepared from a carpenter with 3 drawers each 2-1/2 inches deep. It will look like this.
Top section will have space too which will be approx half inch deep.

2. Apply primer all over the box. It is used so that wood does not soak so much of color. Let it dry completely.
3. When it is dry, paint the box with desired color. I chose red. :)
4. Make sure to paint it completely, every corner of it and let it dry completely.
5. After it gets dried completely, take 2 contrasting colors. I used black and yellow.
6. An old tooth brush, colors in complete liquid form, start spraying, :) , but not too much.
7. The coats get dried up in the sun, and then begins the real painting.
8. I took golden(metallic) color and the flower stencil. Start printing the flowers in a symmetrical way.
Handpainted Box

9. After the paint dries, apply 2 coats of varnish to make it look shining.
10. Decorate it with beads, flowers, laces and whatever suits you best. I used a small mirror too on the top.

Make some internal arrangements as you need and finally fill it with a lot of jewelry. :) :) :) :)

How to Make a Mini Bangle Box from an Empty Tape Roll

Long time..!! Yeah, I a writing after a long time. I was a bit busy with some happy orders. With all this happening, I created a new useful object. It is a Bangle Box, but a mini one. This is best to be carried while you travel.
So, let's see what all I did to get it completed. :)

Things You Need:
1. Empty tape roll(large one)
2. Cardboard pieces
3. Fevicol/glue
4. Decorative paper sheet as per your choice
5. Small magnet

Procedure:
This creation is quite quick and adorable.
Step 1: Take the empty roll and cut it into 2 pieces in such a fashion that they appear to be in the ration 3:1(approx)

Empty tape roll

Step 2: Make a joint at one of these ends using the strong tape. This will make it easier to open and close the box.
Step 3: After the basic joints, cover the entire roll with white thick paper or foam. Also, place one small rectangular magnet on the open end so that it works properly but it is not visible.
Step 4: Now cover it with the decorative paper you have chosen.
Step 5: Now cut two cardboard pieces, to be attached on the sides of the roll.
Step 6: After cutting these, cover them properly with the same or of contrast paper.

Once the pieces are ready, combine them all and your bangle box is ready. :) :)

                                        Bangle box from waste

                                        Bangle box from tape roll

How to Make a Mixed Media Photo Frame

Hello all,
Good Afternoon..!!

I know I am a it late to share this creation by Crazy Crafts. This was created by me on the occasion of #FriendshipDay. I had to create this for my senior, my mentor as a gesture on Friendship Day at office.

My first try on mixed media. It is not so perfect but looking quite good. :P

I have used some tissue papers, a lot of colors, flowers, quotes, stones, googly eyes etc etc etc. This red, golden and black frame was liked by everyone.

You must be waiting for the procedure it but I am actually very sorry I cannot share the complete procedure. The reason for this "apology" is that I do not really know how this came out. :D :P

My head was turning round and round, aching badly, but I had just one thing in mind- just GIVE IT A GO, you will succeed. And this really worked for me. :D

Another factor that worked for me was #ComedyNightswithKapil. I just switched it on and it helped me concentrate more.  :) weird but true.. :P

See the TRANSITIONS ;)

Initial stage of mixed media

This was the initial stage when I started painting it. It was looking a bit different and turned out to something like this:

I hope you like this and appreciate more. :P

Thanks for your time to have a look and read it. :)

Keep crafting, keep enjoying..!!

How to Make a Photo Frame

Hello Friends,

Today I would like to explain simple procedure to make a photo frame all by yourself. Making a photo frame is very simple and fun to make. You can have 2 types of frames:
i) A frame with a photo permanently fixed into it.
ii) A frame with an option to insert a photograph.

Static one is easier, actually. ;) So lets start. I will explain both.

Materials You Need:

1. Hard cardboard and a cardboard with lesser thickness.
2. Ruler, pencil, cutter, scissors, fevicol

Steps:

1. Cut the hardboard into desired size, 6"*8" or the size you need.
2. Now take the board with lesser thickness and cut it in such a way that there is 1" extra on each side except the one to insert a photograph. It can be horizontal or vertical as per your need.
3. Make a smaller box in the middle to match the size of the photograph i.e. 5"*7".
4. Now cut along the same lines of the photo box. This will make a window in the board. :P

Cut out a window from the cardboard

5. Mark the traces along the lines of the actual size of the frame. Fold along the traced lines to the inner sides. This will make it easier to paste the former and the latter.
6. On the base of the frame, make a flap type opening to insert the photograph.
7. Attach a stand and you are done. :)
It may appear like:

Back side of the photo frame

I wish I had some step by step pictures to show. I will update the pics I make a frame next time.

Those who wish to make the one with a permanent photograph, skip the step 6. You can just paste the two card boards of equal sizes, one with a window on it, on each other and paste a stand on it.

Was it fun to make it? I really enjoy it. Post creating this, you can decorate it anyhow. :)

After decoration, it will look like:

How to make a photo frame

You cane make it of any shape and any size you want.

Enjoy your creation and share. :)

Here is an entry by a dentist by profession but crafter by passion. I really appreciate that she spends some time in crafting despite being so very busy all day. She is studying too. :)

Have a look what she brings in for us.. :)

The base frame is handmade too using chipboard. The chipboard is layered using various kinds of paints including Acrylic colors and glass paint... In this case the base frame is white... The frame holds a 6x4 inch photo. The frame base also has a coat of modpodge to make it water resistant. This frame can be placed on a table or fridge top...

The technique used to decorate the frame is quilling... I have used red, light pink and hot pink quilling strips to make Malaysian flowers and then used basic marquise shape for the leaves... then these are again layered at different level for further gradient effect. the quilled pieces have a coat of modpodge too...

How to Make an Heart Shaped Easel Card

This creation was a big one for me. It has 2 reasons behind this.
1. It was made for my dear friend on request. She had to gift this to her prince charming, her hubby. :)
2. It was the first card of this kind, and the output was really good. :)

Here we go with a small procedure:

1. Take an A3 size colored sheet of your choice. I chose red one as it is a symbol of love. ;)

2. Cut the sheet in the shape of a heart. Do remember to leave the joint at the top so that you can open it in the form of a card.

heart card

3. Use the decorative scissors to finish the edges accordingly. I used the curvy one.

4. Take another piece of red heart shaped sheet of the same size.

5. Fold the one side of the card into half so that you can paste the extra 'red heart' over it to make it an easel card.

base for easel card

6. Paste the extra sheet on the lower edge of the folded heart sheet.

easel card

Heart easel card

7. Now take a comparatively matching colored sheet(you may opt for printed paper). I have used a skin colored sheet with hearts and flowers matching my theme.

8. Cut heart shape out of that sheet but a bit smaller than that of the card base. Paste it neatly on the front of the card.

9. Take an embossed white or any other textured white sheet(as I used). Cut it in the same shape and smaller size and paste it on the inner side of the card.

You are ready with the base. Now, it is the time to decorate the card to make it look beautiful.

To decorate the card you need:

Paper Doily
Sparkle
Paper Cut Outs in heart and flower shapes
White Pearls
Black Paper Sheet
Crystal Hearts, Heart Stickers and artificial Flowers

1. To make the card more beautiful and put the emotions into it, I chose a couple to be showcased on the front of the card.

2. You can get the template on the internet and get it printed, cut and paste. Alternatively, you can also draw it or trace it if you are good at it. I just drew it(that is why it is not perfect :P)

3. Take the paper doily and paste it in the middle of the front of the cover.

4. Paste the cut design on the paper doily.

5. Apply sparkle on the skirt of the girl and coat of the boy. Let it dry completely.

complete decorated heart

6. Now decorate the inner side of the card with paper die cuts and pearls. Also paste a flower and some beads on the front cover as per the requirement.

7. Cut a circular piece of paper to write a nice message on it. I wrote "You are mine" on the customer's request. Paste it with the help of a double sided tape on the inner white sheet. This will serve as a stand too for the card.

You are mine

Congratulations..!! Your card is complete now. You may write your blessings and wishes on the inner side of the card(on white stock). Similarly you can paste the photograph too.

A Gift Box Shaped Photo album

Hello Everyone,

It's Sunday, i.e. fun day. The weather is also cool today. So I opted to showcase a very very cool creation. This creation is cool because of it's magnificent color matching. This Box Album has been created very neatly. Here is a nice description about this album by the creator  itself. :)

This is a Handcrafted "Gift Box shaped Photo album" cum scrapbook which will add elegance to Gifting. Its basically a box which when opened up has 9 squares where you can paste your photos and write notes. These make great gifts especially if you want to cherish your memories with someone special. A wonderful and special way of conveying and preserving the memories you want to cherish.. It can b designed according to the theme of the occasion.. (like birthdays, anniversaries, family reunion, etc).

Gift Box shaped Photo album

I basically did this with a 12"x12" patterned paper. And scored it at 10 cms interval on either sides. And then I gave it slits in a way it could fold up at the scorelines to make a box.
Later i made a lid which sits perfectly on the box n decorated it with beautiful paper roses i made in the similar shade. Hope u like it.

P.S. I Love You - Handmade Scrapbook

Hello everyone,

A bit late but I am back.. :)
Today I have a very well written SCRAPBOOK entry from a very very talented crafter named- Krithika. :)

Here are the details of her project as she stated herself. :)

P.S. I Love You -- Scrapbook:

My project is a scrapbook which has a theme called P.S. I love you, impressed by the movie. It all started with a friend, who wanted to write-up something about her love, and keep it for herself as a personal diary with journals and photographs.

So, I decided to give it a try with making my own pattern papers using stencils and stamps. In the scrapbook, the only place where I have used printed papers are for holding photographs. Rest, stamps and stencils from my own collection.

I decided to use pink for the entire project as the owner will be a girl. Hidden journals are kept within each page and stamped P.S.I love you at the end. I have used flowers at the front cover, and used flower stamps in most of the pages for creating a patterned background.

Techniques Used in the Project:

I did not use any special techniques, except that I layered all stencils and stamps one by one. I first used stencils to cover my page completely, then used floral stamps to stamp on the pages, then used leaf stamps, and on top of that, used some fussy cut stamped images. I used Martha Stewart punches too to layer some of my pattern papers that are meant to hold photographs.

Finally I distresses the edges of almost all pattern papers with my "Picked Raspberry" distress ink.

Here are the pictures of the final result:

P S I love you scrapbook

About the Crafter:

I am Krithika, basically a Telugu girl, born and brought up at Tamil Nadu. I was into pencil sketching and coloring during my school days and I had a long break after settling at Bangalore for a job. For some days, indeed, I did not have time to go for my passion. I happened to see a few handmade cards and explosion boxes that attracted me towards crafts, when I was searching for one of my friend's birthday. I was browsing almost all Facebook pages and blogs that said crafts and handmade.

Finally I decided to give a try on Martha Stewart Punches and my crafting journey started since then. It was almost from Jan that I started crafting and I would say I am addicted to it these days. So, I should say, I am into this crafting world for the past six months.

Geometrical Saturday - Quilled Earrings

Hello,

It has been a long time since my last post. Thanks for waiting...;) it was fun creating these new geometric earrings. Yes, it was a geometric Saturday for me. I really enjoyed making these as this was new for me. I never tried much shapes while quilling but this was actually enjoyable.

I have used mustard colored quilling strips to make these girlish geometric triangular earrings.
Have a look at what I came up with.

handmade quilled earrings

Some tips while making these:
1. Make tightly coiled loops by wrapping around a rigid object, I used a bold marker.
2. Make sure to make the loops of similar size.
3. Press gently to form a firm triangular shape.
4. Apply varnish so that it covers the complete design. Let it dry dor some time and apply 2-3 coats of varnish for better finish.
5. Place jumprings consecutively one after another. I used three rings with three quilled triangles.
6. Now place the earring hook in the topmost ring and enjoy the wonderful creation.

This pair can best suit your formal attire or even to the traditional one.
I hope you all like this. Do appreciate if you like it. Thank you...!!

Keep Crafting...!!!

How to Make Quilled Shining Beaded Studs?

Hello All,

Today I share a very new and beautiful creation by Crazy Crafts. These are heavily designed studs. These will look good with a nice saree on some traditional occasion.
This design was easy to make and interesting too. I started with two tight red colored coils, slightly different in size, placed one over the other. Place them in such a way that their circles do not coincide. I needed to make something with beads but on the other hand Rhinestones were attracting me a lot. So I decided to make a combination of these.
Have a look at what I came up with.

                  Quilled handmade earrings

I used some small sized flat base pearls to make it look more attractive at the circumference of the bottom circle. After that I chose rhinestones of two colors to make a good combination, i.e. red and green. Start fixing them alternatively as per colors to fill the lower circle only.

Now for  the upper coil, place a large sized flat base pearl in the centre. Again start placing the rhinestones alternatively around the pearl. This will make the design look more beautiful. Let it dry completely for around 2-3 hours.

Its time to complete them. Paste the stud base on the back side of your earring in such a way that the stud is easy to wear. For this, fix it a few cms below the top of the base. Make sure to dix it in the right direction. Let them dry again to ensure the affirm fix.

These are completely ready to wear. :) This is it this time.

Enjoy everyone and keep crafting... !! :)
